David Lynch confirms that Ryan Gravenberch is not leaving Liverpool
According to reliable Liverpool reporter David Lynch, talk of Ryan Gravenberch leaving Liverpool this summer after just one season is wide off the mark.
Ryan Gravenberch arrived at Liverpool as a 21-year-old from Bayern Munich last summer, and while he struggled to secure a regular starting spot under former boss Jurgen Klopp, he showed flashes of promise on the pitch. The central midfielder made 38 appearances across all competitions, netting four goals and two assists in his debut season for the Reds.
Yet, the Dutchman has been linked with an Anfield exit. Turkish champions Galatasaray are vying for Gravenberch’s signature to partner with Lucas Torreira in the centre of the park next season. They are looking for a loan deal, with Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek planning to fly to England to conclude the signing.
However, writing on his Substack, David Lynch claimed that sources close to Gravenberch, who earns £150,000 gross per week at Liverpool, described speculation over his future as “nonsense”.
“Sources close to Gravenberch have described the speculation over his future as “nonsense”, with both player and club focused on making his second campaign at Anfield a success,” Lynch wrote on his Substack.
Despite making only 12 Premier League starts and managing to complete a full 90 minutes just once, Gravenberch remains a key figure for the Reds, as reiterated by Lynch. Under the new management of Arne Slot, the 22-year-old’s fortunes could change. Arne Slot would know Gravenberch well from their time in the Eredivisie, with the former managing Feyenoord and the latter representing Ajax.
A technically gifted and tactically sound player, the 22-year-old has the required attributes to thrive in Slot’s possession-based system. Having come up through the youth ranks at Ajax, no wonder why the Dutchman is so classy and elegant on the ball and has the spatial awareness to turn and beat his marker without much fuss.
The new Liverpool boss would certainly not want to lose Gravenberch, especially in a summer transfer window where the club are yet to sign a single player. There is no way the Reds discard him after just one season; instead, he needs regular game time and a system to flourish. At 22, the ex-Bayern Munich man aligns perfectly with Liverpool’s long-term vision and planning, and if Slot grooms him properly, he could turn out to be a valuable asset.

Liverpool have little reason to part ways with a high-potential player like Gravenberch, and Lynch’s remarks of “both player and club focused” on making the upcoming campaign a rich success is the right way to go about it.
