Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaks out on future plans
Jurgen Klopp stepped down from his position as the Liverpool manager last season as he brought down the curtains on an illustrious time at Anfield.
The German revealed that he was exhausted by the pressure of managing the Premier League giants and that he would be taking a short break. Nonetheless, he was still linked with the England national team’s role as Gareth Southgate’s replacement and has finally broken the silence about his plans for the near future.
In an interaction at the International Coaches’ Congress in Germany, which was shared by Mirror, he revealed that his career as a coach might have even come to an end. He said:
“At the moment, there is nothing at all in terms of jobs. No club, no country. I’m going to do some work. I’m too young to only do padel tennis and grandchildren. Will that be coaching again? I would actually rule that out at the moment. Let’s see what it will look like in a few months. Nothing is coming through at the moment. As of today, that’s it for me as a coach. I didn’t quit on a whim, but it was a general decision. I’ve also coached the best clubs in the world.”
Klopp has certainly deserved a resting period, especially after leading Liverpool back to being a force to reckon with on the global footballing stage, as well as winning them their first English top-flight title of the Premier League era.
His Midas touch extended to matters beyond the pitch, as he spent a lot of time working behind the scenes to give Liverpool a fresh identity which took them back to winning ways. He was a fan favourite and had the respect of all of his players, and the opposition as well.
If indeed it is the end of his time as a head coach, it has been a fantastic career, though understandably, a lot of football aficionados will hope that the former Borussia Dortmund boss is back in the dugout some day.
He did, however, hint at staying in football in a non-coaching capacity and could be a fantastic addition to Liverpool’s boardroom in an advisor’s capacity. After all, he knows the club inside out having spent almost a decade on Merseyside, whilst even having some sort of a personal rapport with the fans.
If he does make himself available for a position behind the scenes, Liverpool will be quick to hire Klopp and deservingly so.

For the time being, Arne Slot has some massive shoes to fill and the Dutchman will hope that the club, fans and players back him the same way they did to Klopp in all these years.
