Giorgi Mamardashvili on Liverpool wish-list as Alisson Becker ‘s replacement
Alisson Becker has decided to turn down the mega-money in Saudi Arabia to stay at Liverpool for one more season. However, with the Brazilian aged 31 and providing no guarantees on his future beyond 2025, the Reds have devised a succession plan which they hope to put into effect very shortly.
Spanish source Relevo has claimed that they are pondering over Giorgi Mamardashvili’s signing from Valencia by making an opening bid worth €30 million for the Georgian international.
Mamardashvili has been one of the best shot-stoppers in La Liga for the last few years but his stock has tremendously risen since Georgia’s run to the last 16 of Euro 2024 earlier this summer.
Valencia valued him at €35 million prior to the tournament, Relevo adds, and hence, it is unlikely that Liverpool’s opening bid will be accepted. However, the two clubs are expected to start negotiations soon and with the Premier League giants fearing that the 23-year-old’s valuation will skyrocket in the next year, they are prepared to sanction a move for him this month itself.
The plan is for the Reds to sign Mamardashvili on a permanent transfer before sending him out on loan with Bournemouth among a host of English clubs said to be keen. Liverpool’s intent is to keep him in England for 2024/25 so as to acclimatise him to the Premier League before he takes over from Alisson next year as the number one at Anfield.

Although Liverpool are prepared to offer a lower sum than what Valencia would like, there is every reason for Arne Slot to be optimistic about his employer eventually closing out the goalie’s signing. After all, they are yet to sign a single player this summer and Mamardashvili’s purchase would be a good start in securing the first-team’s long-term future.
