Liverpool are keen to retain Caoimhin Kelleher for the 2024-25 season
Liverpool are preparing for the upcoming season with Caoimhin Kelleher still in their ranks. The Reds have placed a valuation of around £25-30 million on the talented goalkeeper but are inclined to keep him at the club. Despite this, Liverpool’s resolve has not yet been thoroughly tested by other clubs.
Unless an unprecedented offer comes in the next few weeks, Kelleher is expected to remain at Anfield for the following campaign according to The Athletic [Subscription Required]. This will undoubtedly be fantastic news for Liverpool supporters, who have seen Kelleher deliver solid performances whenever called upon.
Kelleher’s stay may prompt Liverpool to address other goalkeeping matters. Vitezslav Jaros, who enjoyed a stint as the first-choice goalkeeper at Sturm Graz last season and impressed against Manchester United in pre-season, might be reluctant to remain as the club’s third-choice keeper.
If Kelleher stays, Liverpool will likely need to resolve Jaros’ future, potentially seeking a loan move for the young Czech to ensure he continues to get valuable playing time. However, the best solution would be to retain him as the third choice in place of Adrian.
In the meantime, Liverpool are plotting a long-term succession plan for their current number one, Alisson Becker. The Reds are eyeing a €30 million move for Giorgi Mamardashvili as a potential future replacement. The Brazilian goalkeeper is still expected to be the first-choice keeper next season, but Liverpool could opt to loan out Mamardashvili until he is ready to take over from
Should the deal occur, it remains to be seen how Kelleher will react to it. Will he rise to the challenge, or will he opt out and seek his fortune elsewhere? Time will tell.
