Real Madrid want to sign Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer next summer

Real Madrid just don’t seem to be satisfied with what they have as they continue to push for Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold. Los Blancos are pulling out all stops to try and sign the £180,000 per week homegrown Reds right-back on a free transfer next summer.

We covered a story a few days ago from a report by AS that the Spanish side is moving stealthily to sign Trent from Liverpool. Spanish outlet Fichajes have gone on to back up this claim that Carlo Ancelotti’s side sees the English right-back as Daniel Carvajal’s replacement at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Gone are the days when Real Madrid used to pay huge money and break transfer records to sign Galacticos from top clubs around Europe. From not being afraid to spend huge sums to sign the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, the Spanish side has now started stooping to new lows.

Los Blancos’ latest trick in the transfer market is to identify targets that they want, convince them to run down their contract at their current club and snap them up when they are available on free transfers. Just ask Kylian Mbappe about this, he’ll give you a clearer picture!

Now, Real Madrid want to pull another page from the same playbook to sign the 25-year-old from Liverpool. The Spanish media has ensured that they do their best by putting out images of Trent hanging out with the likes of Bellingham and Tchouameni to build a false sense of narrative that the Englishman is open to a move. Until now, we haven’t heard anything from the horse’s mouth.

A different environment?

All things said, there are reasons we believe Trent might actually consider this move. The most obvious elephant in the room is that Real Madrid is not a club many players say no to unless they are a Barcelona fan. The Spanish giants have a knack for luring players they want.

There is a sense that outside Liverpool, Trent is not really accepted by the English fanbase. Yes, Liverpool fans love him and adore him but the 23-year-old has never been without his critics outside of Anfield. Even when he plays for England, it doesn’t feel like he is wholeheartedly welcomed.

Such factors could play in Trent’s mind when he decides on his future. With a contract that expires in 2025 (Transfermarkt), the English defender has to make a decision. He’s been a Liverpool boy forever and leaving Anfield behind will not be an easy decision for him.

From a Reds perspective, they will be hoping to sign him to a new deal. Knowing how the club operate, talks might have already begun in the background. We sincerely hope Trent doesn’t leave the club next summer; especially not to Real Madrid of all places. However, the decision firmly lies with the player and all we can do is wait patiently.
