Liverpool would find it difficult to turn down £100m bid from Saudi Arabia for Mohamed Salah

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool are bracing themselves for a big-money move from Saudi Arabia for star forward Mohamed Salah.

Mohamed Salah is into the final 12 months of his Liverpool contract (Transfermarkt), leading to speculation surrounding his long-term future in the red half of Merseyside. The Egyptian has earned legendary status during his seven-year stay at the club, bagging 211 goals and 89 assists in 349 appearances as well as winning every major honour including the Champions League and the Premier League.

Despite enduring a challenging last season, the 32-year-old still scored 25 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions for the Reds. Salah has been a regular fixture in the US pre-season tour under new head coach Arne Slot, and despite him entering the last year of his deal, Liverpool have ruled out selling the attacker this summer amid heavy interest from the cash-rich Saudi Pro League.

However, the aforementioned report adds that Liverpool will find it difficult to refuse an offer of at least £100m for Salah from Saudi Arabia, who are still deciding their transfer budgets before an expected surge of activity late in the summer transfer window.

This time last year, the Reds rejected an eye-watering £150m bid for the Egypt international from Saudi side Al-Ittihad towards the end of the transfer window, thus, showing real faith in their superstar. And while he lived up to his promise and delivered the goods, one cannot deny the fact that Salah’s powers have started waning as evidenced by little instances during Jurgen Klopp’s farewell campaign.

With the transfer window entering its final month, Liverpool and Arne Slot don’t have a greater amount of time left to potentially bring in a replacement should a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia arrive for Salah in the coming days. The Nagrig-born ace’s contractual situation is seemingly putting pressure on the club to either cash him in or negotiate a new deal.

The Merseyside giants cannot afford to lose one of their valuable assets in Salah on a free transfer as they operate on a tight budget and require adequate replacement to stay competitive in the league as well as in Europe.

So, it is such a tricky situation for the club to find themselves in with regards to the Egyptian’s future. The more time and days pass by, the Reds’ reluctance to let Salah may grow considering the hard task of replacing a player of his status and experience.
