RB Salzburg are closing in on a deal for Liverpool starlet Bobby Clark
Former Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders deserves much praise for the development of several of our young guns, including Bobby Clark. The young midfielder was among the academy stars who got the Reds across the line in last season’s Carabao Cup final vs Chelsea at Wembley.
The 19-year-old arrived at Anfield from Newcastle United in 2021 and is the son of former Premier League star Lee Clark. He made his senior bow for the club in 2022 and has since amassed 14 appearances, scoring once and assisting twice across all competitions.
Highly rated by former boss Jurgen Klopp, Clark enjoyed a fine 2023-24 campaign where he found minutes in the senior side easier to come by. A spate of excellent performances solidified his status as a player to watch out for. At just 19, Clark has the potential to develop into a reliable player for a top club.
Lijnders is well aware of the teenager’s potential and is keen to reunite with him at Austrian giants RB Salzburg. The Reds have rejected a £6m bid from Salzburg for the midfielder, but the Austrian giants appear to be keen to push and get the deal over the line.
According to an exclusive by DaveOCKOP on Instagram, Salzburg are closing in on the English youth international, and an improved deal should get the deal over the line. On a day in which Fabio Carvalho agreed to join Brentford and Kaide Gordon is set to move to Swansea City on loan, Clark could become the third midfielder to leave Anfield. Hopefully, we have the foresight to include a buyback clause in the deal.
One of the finest young players at our disposal, it makes little sense for the Reds to sell Clark on a permanent deal. A loan move would be better, giving him experience in the top flight, potentially potentially accelerating his development as a footballer. Lijnders is certainly familiar with the player and can help him improve and evolve into one that meets Liverpool’s standards.

The decision to sell Clark is a surprising move and has caught several Liverpool fans off guard. However, the transfer activity at Anfield appears to have gone up a notch. With deals being pushed through, it now remains to be seen who the Reds bring in through the door.
