There has been speculation over the future of Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark since the last week or so.
Bobby Clark was not involved at all during the recently concluded pre-season due to a back injury but that hasn’t stopped him from attracting loan and permanent offers from several clubs. The teenager has been the subject of interest from Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg.
Former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders, now in charge of RB Salzburg, is keen to sign Bobby Clark this summer. The Reds have already rejected two bids from RB Salzburg as it falls below their valuation.
However, this hasn’t dented the Austrian side’s hopes of landing the Epsom-born midfielder. According to a report from The Times, RB Salzburg have tabled a third and improved offer for Bobby Clark, inching ever closer to Liverpool’s £10 million valuation.
Pep Lijnders, legendary boss Jurgen Klopp’s erstwhile assistant at Anfield, is showing an unremitting desire to bring Clark to Salzburg. He is pushing his club, along with assistant Vitor Matos—who also worked with Clark at Liverpool—to make a deal happen, which has resulted in the Austrian heavyweights placing a third bid.
The aforementioned report says the Reds are evaluating RB Salzburg’s third bid for their academy talent as exit talks continue.
While talks continue between both clubs, Clark appears to be preparing for an exit from Liverpool having arrived from Newcastle United three years ago. The talented midfielder posted a picture of him in a Liverpool training bib, dropping a cryptic message about his future at Anfield. Considering the timing and shade of the image, it would appear that the teenage prodigy is hinting towards an exit.
Having arrived in Merseyside from Newcastle in 2021, it took Clark just one year to progress from the academy and into the first team. He made his senior debut for the Reds in 2022 and has since made 14 appearances across all competitions, netting once and assisting twice in the process. The England under-20 international, who has a contract at Anfield until 2028 (Transfermarkt), was part of the Liverpool side that beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium last season.

As Liverpool are heavily stacked in the midfield department, Clark would have to settle for a bit-part role under new boss Arne Slot in the upcoming season. Thus, it will be in the best interests of the young gun to move away from Liverpool and get regular minutes to continue his growth. And a permanent move to Salzburg to play under Lijnders would be perfect.
If our club accepts Salzburg’s third and improved bid, we must at least try inserting a buy-back clause for Clark.
