Liverpool alerted by Koopmeiners’ transfer situation
Liverpool target Teun Koopmeiners is understood to be in preference of joining Serie A side Juventus. Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed that the Dutchman desires a transfer to the Bianconeri some days back while also stating that he has refused to train with La Dea’s squad in order to push for a move away from Bergamo.
Juventus had already been in formal negotiations with Atalanta, but there is a risk that the Serie A side’s transfer for Koopmeiners will fall apart, according to Football Insider. Liverpool are on red alert and could capitalise on any potential opportunity to land the 26-year-old this summer.
Arne Slot had been keen on Koopmeiners since his early days at the club and has yet to make his maiden capture since signing for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement. It was thought that the former Feyenoord boss would get his hands on Martin Zubimendi but the Spaniard looks set to stay in La Liga for at least one more season.
Koopmeiners’ transfer could very possibly be seen as an alternative to Zubimendi although both players play on different tips of the midfield. The latter is a defensive midfielder while the Atalanta star plays as an attacking midfielder.
However, with his signing, Alexis Mac Allister can effectively be used as a number six throughout the season without the pressure of having to contribute to the goods in the attacking third.
It remains to be seen, however, if Koopmeiners is receptive to interest from his compatriot Arne Slot and Liverpool, or if his heart is firmly hellbent on joining Juventus this summer.

The Reds could do with a new purchase this summer, more so if that player is a midfielder who can immediately contribute to the goods in the starting eleven. Koopmeiners fits the bill perfectly and it might be only a matter of time before we know if he is at Anfield or not.
