Trent Alexander-Arnold has made climbing his way through the ranks look easy over the past decade or so. Not only did he make his professional debut when he was 18, he made an appearance in the Champions League finals. Alexander-Arnold also became a regular alongside winning a Champions League title a season after his debut. He is also the youngest player to captain Liverpool in European competitions.
Alexander-Arnold made his way to the England International’s last week. It is worth noticing how the fullback has seen himself shift and play different roles over the past few years.
Lee Carsley has no doubts about where Alexander-Arnold would play
England’s interim manager has shown high praise for the fullback in his conference after naming the squad for the UEFA Nations League. While answering the question of where Alexander-Arnold would play he said
“For me, and this camp especially, he will be a right-back, playing in defence,
He also talked about his versatility stating that
“Modern-day full-backs have all-round attributes that almost turn them into midfielders. ”
“Very comfortable receiving the ball, great range of passing, they’re very comfortable in possession and playing forward. I think we’ll see Trent in those areas but I see him as a right-back.”

Arne Slot also expressed his thoughts on the Liverpool fullback
The Liverpool manager Arne Slot has used him back on his defensive line since the start of the season, there’s always uncertainty about where he would play before every matchday. Addressing this situation the Dutchman said:
“Trent is known for playing as a right full-back, for all his life I think, and when he was a youngster he played in midfield,
He also took time to mention Alexandre Arnold’s odds to play midfield are not totally off the table
“In the modern game, you see a lot of full-backs going into the midfield, that is what he did last season once in a while, and I saw him playing at the Euros in midfield.”
“So I think he’s capable of playing both positions really well, and then it’s up to me where I think he could help the team the most.”
Amid all of his achievements, it is obvious that some of the best clubs in the world would want him. And with his contract running out soon, Liverpool fans have been keen to know his future at the club. Alexander-Arnold and Slot were also seen in disagreement after he was subbed off against Brentford. Not only is his position in the squad uncertain, but his future remains in smoke as of now as well.
