Liverpool wants Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo during the summer transfer window of 2025 to bolster their attack even further. The Reds have legendary forward Mohamed Salah and new signing Federico Chiesa competing for the right-wing position in the attack.

Salah has continued his prolific tenure at Liverpool despite the fear of a drop in his quality due to ageing. The 32-year-old faced a surprise dip in form and a period on the sideline due to an injury last season.

The Egypt captain has rarely faced such issues with injury and his dip in form cost Liverpool multiple major titles. However, Salah showed that class is permanent by returning to his former best under the new head coach Arne Slot.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool wants to sign Sociedad forward Kubo who plays dominantly as a right attacking winger for the club. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a steep rise in reputation last season with his technical qualities and dribbling skills in attack.

The Japan international has the ability to take on any defender on ground duels and beat them to create space. Kubo is creative with his passing, crossing and exploiting spaces around the opposition’s channel to help his team score goals.

The 23-year-old has a release clause of €60 million and he is earning €48,077 per week through his current contract. For a player of Kubo’s quality, the release clause is a bargain while any salary hike he requires is achievable.

Meanwhile, Salah remains an important figure at the club despite playing in the last season of his current Liverpool contract. Salah is earning £350,000 per week which makes the contract situation tricky despite his desire to stay at the club.

Liverpool have a strict policy against giving lucrative contracts to ageing players due to the risk of sudden performance regression. However, the club and fanbase admire Salah, and Chiesa’s signing has further reduced the risk factor. Liverpool will pursue a deal for Kubo only after they decide Salah’s future at the club.
