Alisson heaps praise on Liverpool’s new coach Arne Slot
Arne Slot is only three games into his career as the Liverpool head coach, but the results have already started to show with good measure. The Dutchman has won all of his Premier League matches in charge of the Reds so far, with his most recent result seeing him trump compatriot Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.
A number of players have excelled under the former Feyenoord manager with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah particularly standing out, with the latter having six goal contributions already this season. The defence has also been rock solid as Liverpool are the only team in the English top flight so far who are yet to ship a goal.
Alisson Becker who earns around £150,000 per week has spoken about working under Slot and was quoted saying the following by Mirror:
“His [Slot’s] ideas are not too complicated. He’s a really smart manager – not only about the way he thinks about football but the way he implements his ideas, it’s really clear. The message is really clear, so for us players it’s not too complicated and I think that’s what we are showing on the pitch. Now we get confidence from doing the things that he asks us to do.”
Indeed, Liverpool have been a fluid side under Slot and have played rather simple and direct football. Their result against Manchester United was the perfect example of not complicating attacking plays very much as the ball was won high up the pitch and goals were scored within seconds of the midfield regaining possession.
Having said that, the defence has been unbeatable due to its consistent shape. The players are not caught out of position and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has been criticised for his work-rate at the back is also putting on a good show defensively.
However, it must be acknowledged that the Reds have only just started the season and have not been pushed to the limit so far. Once the Champions League gets underway, Arne Slot’s outfit will start to show its true colours and though they will be one of the favourites to win the European Cup, it remains to be seen how much consistency they can show with a relatively thin squad.

After all, silverware is the currency of success in sport and Slot’s men will have to justify their faith in the manager by claiming a trophy or two come the end of the season.
