Having a strong start to the season, The Reds are seeking midfield depth to strengthen their existing options. According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Liverpool are interested in Chris Rigg, a promising young player who is being labelled as the next Jude Bellingham.

Rigg is currently excelling in the Championship with Sunderland under the guidance of new manager Regis Lebris. The 17-year-old Englishman has impressed whenever given the opportunity to play at the Championship level.

How Chris Rigg could come into the team

While Ryan Gravenberch’s recent performances have been impressive, easing concerns about Curtis Jones’ absence, Liverpool is still keen to add depth to their midfield. The Reds, known for their preference for technically skilled players can make a statement signing of Chris Rigg, who can hold up the play well moving to the tempo of Arne Slot’s direction and can fall back deep helping in the defence as well.

If Liverpool were to sign Rigg in 2025, he wouldn’t be expected to challenge for first team starts right away, but he could be incorporated into the senior squad just like Harvey Elliott was at an even younger age upon his arrival at Anfield five years ago.

It’s remarkable that a 17-year-old player has already made 30 appearances across all competitions. Following in the footsteps of Jude Bellingham, Rigg’s talent has attracted interest from top clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, and the Spanish giants, Real Madrid. Securing this top talent will be a challenge for Liverpool, especially considering the intense competition from other European powerhouses.
