As Arsenal’s defensive backbone, Saliba is being compared to Alan Hansen who was one of the best defenders to ever play for Liverpool.
The Rise Of William Saliba
The 23-year-old defender, who has quickly become a key figure in Arteta’s backline, made history by setting a new club record, securing 50 Premier League wins in just 66 appearances.
Saliba who is on £190,000 per week is still young, but he he is experienced for his age. He first made his mark as a teenager at Ligue One side Saint-Étienne in 2018, before Arsenal signed him for around £27million a year later. After returning to Saint-Étienne on loan, he had further loan spells at Nice and Marseille.
