Liverpool’s last game did not exactly go to plan as they suffered their first defeat of the season at home against Nottingham Forest.
Now, they get to follow their previous performance on the biggest stage of all as they travel to San Siro to face AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
Ahead of their UCL opener, one of their most important players has shed some light on how life is under the new coach.
“Slot loves possession,” admits Alisson ahead of Milan UCL opener
Ahead of Liverpool’s opening CL fixture against AC Milan, Reds goalkeeper Alisson Becker talked about, among other things, life in the early days of the Arne Slot reign, pointing out how things were similar and different compared to the days of Jürgen Klopp.
“Mr Slot has contributed with several positive things. Obviously, all the players who have worked for a long time with Klopp will remember what he told us, so our characteristics will be influenced by him, but Slot has arrived with new ideas.
“His new ideas are not that different from what we did in the past but still Slot loves possession, he loves to create from the defence, starting from the goalkeepers, to the other goal, and this will give us chances.
“I think that we like this thing of making more possessions, we like to play close to each other, we like the movements, and he also gives us freedom to be whatever player we like them to be. He works a lot and his staff work a lot as well.”

Still early days
Liverpool may not be feeling very optimistic after their defeat in the last game, but in the long run it will turn out to be a good thing.
No team, however strong, are invincible. Every side ought to deal with the possibility that, on a given day, their plan will not work. The quicker that day arrives, the faster a team can work out contingencies to make sure they get the most out of the games in which their plan goes out the window.
