Liverpool is starting to build an aura around them under Arne Slot. After a minor setback at the Premier League weekend, Merseyside boys came out on top at San Siro.
As they inspired a 3-1 comeback after conceding in the first five minutes, the atmosphere is dripping with confidence. While there was plenty to cover the aftermath, the Reds’ vice-captain Trent Alexander Arnold took time to address what Slot brings to the table.
Trent Alexander-Arnold says Arne Slot can paint scenarios for us
The contest between AC Milan and Liverpool seemed end-to-end for most of the match. While the Italian side went ahead and scored early, the way Slot’s men kept composure is remarkable. While addressing how the game plan changed and what was implemented, Trent Alexander-Arnold has high praise for Slot. According To the Mirror, The Englishman talking to the media said:
“There are all different variations and he gives us that information throughout the week, throughout the game, leading up to the game. He paints scenarios so we have answers for everything, so it’s kind of like ‘OK if they press this way then this is where we’re going to be positioned and if they press a different way then we’ll position ourselves a different way”
Along with getting into the tactics, the Reds’ man was inquired about his role and position on the pitch. Addressing the topic, he explained what is required from him in the game to sync with other players saying:
“It changes fluidly throughout games depending on how the opponents press us so there’s a lot of tactical changes within games – where to go, where not to go, when to stay wide, when to drop into the back line, when to go into midfield, when to be kind of like a No 8 or when Mo [Salah] rolls inside and I’m a high winger.”
This gives us a hint about how Slot wants to use Alexander-Arnold. The Dutchman is keen to implement his formula and also sounds brave enough to switch them on failure. While these statements also show his ability to understand the shape required, having a clear mindset about the game plan always helps.
Alexander-Arnold says he’s excited to be under Slot
It is no secret that the Merseyside vice-captain and Arne Slot were having some indifferences at the start. It was mostly regarding the substitution and his game time. The 25-year-old has expressed his thoughts on the departure of Klopp and the arrival of Slot saying:
“I had a short time off in the summer after the Euros and then was back into it. I think for me it was just an excitement to work under a new manager I’d never had before, and having spoken to the manager, I was excited for the plans and the way he talked about everything.”
And after getting over the indifferences, the duo seems to be moving forward with the plans. However, The Liverpool man is currently in his final few months of the contract which offers him £180,000-per-week. There is no hiding that the fans would love to see him stay amid all the big links from around the world. It will be a nervous few months for the Liverpool fans before they get on to a decision.
