Liverpool didn’t have a strong summer transfer window, and Arne Slot will be looking to make that right in the upcoming windows, with substantial investment expectedly on the horizon at Merseyside. And the chiefs at the AXA training centre have already started laying puzzle pieces in place to ensure that the club can sign the needed quality in 2025.
The Reds are using Champions League games as a basis to scout talent, as the UEFA top-tier games show the player’s potency in high-intensity situations.
Liverpool monitoring Champions League talent
Liverpool, alongside Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Arsenal, had scouts present to have a look at two players in particular in last week’s Champions League game between the Gunners and Atalanta, per Graeme Bailey.
While the Reds managed to secure a 3-1 win over AC Milan at San Siro on Wednesday night, and the officials at Liverpool used Thursday to lay some blueprints for next windows.
The club were accessing Atalanta duo Ederson and Ademola Lookman, with both subject to expectedly moving away from Bergamo in the upcoming windows.
Ademola Lookman is singlehandedly one of the most exciting wide forwards at the moment, and his pace and direct play suit the Reds massively. His inspired performance in the Europa League finals, where Atalanta defeated an invencible Bayer Leverkusen side thanks to a hat-trick by the former Everton player, has raised his stocks massively.
And his teammate, Ederson, is someone that the Reds are in dire need of. Liverpool lack a physical presence in the midfield, and the 25-year-old can bring that if he were to move to Anfield. He is someone that likes to start attacks deep, something that Arne Slot would love.
