Liverpool want Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes to replace their legendary forward Mohamed Salah during the 2025 summer transfer window. Salah is playing in the last year of his contract which expires at the end of the current season.
The Egypt captain has continued his prolific form for the Reds, showing no sign of drastic regression in his playing abilities. However, Liverpool have a policy that stops them from giving lucrative contracts to ageing players as it carries financial risks.
Nevertheless, Liverpool have also displayed their capacity to make deals in advance as they showed by securing Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Reds could use the same tactics to secure a successor for Salah in advance while extending his current contract.
According to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda (via Fichajes), Liverpool want Real forward Rodrygo to succeed Salah at the Merseyside club. Real would demand an offer of more than €100 million from Liverpool which is a heavy price for the Reds.
While Liverpool can afford the demanded price, they prefer using their well-reputed scout, making bargain signings to maintain their finances. Furthermore, Rodrygo is earning €240,385 per week at Real and would demand a major hike to leave the Spanish giant.
The 23-year-old has only completed one game this season due to the heavy competition he is facing at the club. The Brazilian has incredible quality and experience to win multiple major trophies at the highest level, playing a pivotal role.
The 23-year-old has made nine appearances in all competitions for Real this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Real has struggled with form this season despite not losing a single game so far with hierarchy prioritizing new signings.

Rodrygo lacks the reputation that his teammates have and that includes new signings Kylian Mbappe and fellow Brazilian teammate Endrick. Meanwhile, Liverpool have healthy competition in their attack department with Federico Chiesa joining the team to compete with Salah. Chiesa’s bargain signing gives Liverpool leverage to choose the best successor for Salah without the fear of weakness at the right flank.
