Arsenal are set to challenge Liverpool for the signing of highly-rated Bundesliga talent Hugo Larsson, as per recent reports. Liverpool, still in need of a defensive midfielder after missing out on Martin Zubimendi during the summer, are also pursuing the Swedish Midfielder.
Hugo Larsson, 20, is a versatile central midfielder who emerged from Malmö’s academy. He can play both as a No. 8 or a No. 6, showcasing his adaptability in different midfield roles. Before his £7.5 million move to Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2023, Larsson made 61 appearances for Malmö’s first team, cementing his potential as a rising talent in European football.
Liverpool Face Stiff Competition From Arsenal
Hugo Larsson played 38 times for Eintracht Frankfurt across all competitions last season, and he has started the new campaign strongly. Early goals against Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach helped Frankfurt secure three wins from four Bundesliga matches.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano recently reported that “several clubs are monitoring his development,” but Frankfurt remain “very happy” with Larsson and view him as a “key” player for their squad.
According to Caught Offside, both Liverpool and Arsenal are leading the race to secure the signature of the Swedish international with both clubs heavily scouting the young talent.
Larsson, currently earning approximately £12,548 per week, could be set for a big-money move to the Premier League. He would fit well into Arne Slot’s squad, which is in need of a holding midfielder, a role the Swede is well-suited for.

Larsson won’t come cheap, as Frankfurt are aware of his potential to reach the top level. The club is reluctant to let him go next summer when clubs are expected to make offers. Frankfurt will likely demand at least £58.5m (€70m) for the Swedish midfielder, but could hold out for up to £66.8m.
Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in Larsson, but at this point, Arsenal and Liverpool are leading the race for his signature.
