Liverpool will face Brighton & Hove Albion in the fourth round of the League Cup at the end of October, after advancing with a win over West Ham.
The draw for the last 16 took place following the clash at Anfield where Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo were striving high with both scoring a brace and Mohamed Salah also on the scoresheet.
Arne Slot’s side have been drawn against Brighton and will play the tie away from home.
This marks the sixth consecutive season that the Reds have reached the fourth round of the competition, with the most recent occasion leading to their triumph in Jurgen Klopp’s final season.
Liverpool to face Brighton twice in four days
The fourth-round fixtures of the League Cup will be held on either October 29 or 30, with the latter being the more likely date for this match.
The fixture will fall between an away trip to Arsenal and a home Premier League clash against Brighton, setting up a double against the young Fabian Hürzeler’s side.
With such a demanding schedule it seems like Slot is likely to rotate his squad once again as it’s worth noting that Arsenal are still in the competition as well.
Liverpool extended their record last season, winning the League Cup for a record 10th time. Can history repeat itself?
This means Liverpool will face Brighton twice in just one week, which adds an interesting twist to their schedule.
Looking ahead, the run of fixtures after the next international break is quite challenging: Chelsea, Leipzig, Arsenal, and then Brighton—twice—followed by matches against Leverkusen and Aston Villa.
By mid-November, we’ll have a much clearer picture of what realistic expectations for the season should be, as these games will really test the squad’s depth and resilience.
