Liverpool have easily been one of the best teams this season. And that’s for the whole of Europe in consideration and not just the English top flight. While the players are always eager to put on a show on match days, the modern era seems to be leaving their opinions behind.
Following the packed schedule, a lot of things have been asked to be inspected. Players are doing their part in letting the world know what they think about the added games to the calendar year in this modern era.
Andy Robertson feels players have been neglected big-time in these packed schedules
Liverpool has played three games in the past week following the Carabao Cup and Wolves on the weekend. Moreover, they will host Bologna as the Champions League football comes back to Anfield on Wednesday.
These are some thin-edged important games with very little time to recover in fitness math. Speaking on the issue and how players have felt over time, Liverpool’s Andy Robertson had some things to get off his chest. According to the Mirror, the Scottish fullback said:
“I don’t think the players are ever asked. I think that’s where our frustrations lie. We all love playing football. We love playing games. That’s what we work so hard towards.”
“As I speak, we’ve got a game in a few days at Anfield in the Champions League. It’s one of the best games to be involved in. But extra games get added. Extra tournaments get added and I don’t think players get asked what their opinion of it is and how we feel about it.”
Players have spent a while raising concerns and even threatening a strike regarding the issue. Robertson wouldn’t be the first as the likes of Rodri, John McGinn and Heung Min-son have already expressed their disappointment this season.
The modern game requires players to be focused on every aspect while providing very little time to recover from the blows. Not only does this raise concern for fatigue, but it also certainly puts a mental scratch on the player’s mindset.

Liverpool will play around 63 games in a season which will last 287 days this season according to reports. To top this, all of the increased international breaks and national duties are always a factor.
While the situation as of now is being ignored by the people responsible, it isn’t long before it comes back to haunt us. Switching things around and restructuring the program while keeping the players in mind seems important.
Taking notes from the actual bodies that see the action instead of people in the office only makes sense. The way it’s headed, the ugly sight of falling injuries and wasted players is looking inevitable to avoid.
