Liverpool has been chasing heights with consistent victories since the start of the season. From dominating displays to stellar defenses, the Reds have looked comfortable all six weeks. While it must be because of the arrival of Arne Slot, a lot has come to the talking table. For instance, the players who have emerged lately and the ones finding their feet again.
Arne Slot is delighted by Ryan Gravenberch and his skillset
Liverpool came out on top in what would be a hard-earned 2-0 over Bologna in the Champions League. While they looked in total control at times, the Italian sign showed signs of threats during some spells.
Dutch international Ryan Gravenberch continued to impress as he put up a strong display on the second matchday of the European championship. Slot, who hasn’t been shy, expressed his confidence in his fellow countrymen and talked about his skills in the post-game interview. Speaking on Gravenberch he said:
“There are a few ways how to to overload or outplay them and one of them is a player who can drive with the ball, dribble with the ball and outplay someone because if you outplay someone you immediately have an overload and that is what happened, I think, after two or three minutes when Ryan turned away again from a good pass from Virgil.”
There are many traits to Gravenberch’s game. His most outstanding skill is his confidence on the ball. Whether he receives the ball on his end of the pitch or from opponents, he keeps the cool believing in his skills. Highlighting some of his strengths, the Dutch head coach continued saying:
“He was outstanding again today, Ryan, with his dribbling ability and that was important against this team but if we only focus on the dribbles he had we forget maybe how important he is without the ball, where he does a lot of work and wins a lot of second balls as well.”
The 22-year-old midfielder who is currently on a £150,000 per week contract has dripped of consistency this season. Gravenberch has been heavily backed with some reputed comparisons which he seems to be living up to based on his recent performance.

The Dutch midfielder had impressive numbers against Bologna. He managed to have a passing accuracy of 91% and won four of his seven duels. Gravenberch put up a stellar display on both ends of the pitch.
While he made it possible for Liverpool to get out of Bologna’s press, the Dutch also opened up space without the ball. Having him in the middle of the park is bringing a certain safety to players around him to express themselves.
Liverpool are now eight out of nine games as Slot makes history. He becomes the first Reds’ manager to have this record and will surely look to maintain it.
This also marks his first home game win on the European level as he seeks room for improvement in the coming time. Furthermore, they will face Arsenal and Chelsea in the Premier League this month which are expected to be bigger tests. How the Dutch coach lines and whether will he pass these hurdles are some questions everyone will keep their eyes on.
