Liverpool couldn’t be happier after what Arne Slot has been pulling since his arrival. After the 2-0 victory over Bologna thanks to Mac Allister’s opener and the seal from Mohamed Salah, they have one loss and eight victories this season.
Amid these victory celebrations, one thing that won’t leave the Merseyside fans is the legendary trio’s future at the club. Everyone has their say on who stays while nothing official has come up.
The former Liverpool man would want to see Trent Alexander-Arnold continue
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been at Liverpool since his youth days. He’s seen it all from the glorious days of Liverpool to facing his share of backlash.
While many speculated his departure after Klopp’s, he’s still here serving the Reds in the best possible way. Amid the transfer talks, former Liverpool man Steve McManaman has expressed his views on the contract situation. Talking to TNT Sports, he said:
“There’s been a problem within the club that it hasn’t been sorted out sooner. Hopefully, it won’t be hard for the three of them – particular Trent – to get it all sorted amicably.”
“The circumstances for Trent and how it’s come, this is well-known. The sporting director and Jurgen [Klopp] leaving, so it’s got to this limbo, of sorts. What’s helping is Virgil and Mo Salah are in the same predicament.”
As he expressed Alexander Arnold’s situation after a few departures, he also believes in them staying. Talking boldly about what is going on behind the curtains, the pundit said:
“I know they’ve all been talking in the club. I’ve been talking to the players, so it’s well on the way, the club won’t say anything until it’s signed, sealed and delivered.”
This may sound like a melody after a win on a Champions League night at Anfield. However, it has been going on for a while, this contract saga. The English fullback who is currently on a £180,000 per week contract has only a few months left on his contract.

It is no secret that world-class attacking defenders would be wanted all over the world. If Liverpool chooses to let him go, Real Madrid has been one of the contenders to sign him.
Liverpool will find themselves in a tough situation if it comes to choosing from the trio of Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. While many have found logic in who should stay if it comes to picking, the fans would surely find seeing any of them leave. Although the points on the board have created a boosted atmosphere, some big decisions are to be taken by the club in the coming months.
