Liverpool are flourishing under Arne Slot’s leadership, sitting comfortably at the top of the Premier League table. With a deep squad pushing themselves to the limits, particularly in defense, the Reds are showing they have it all figured out.
As a result, two promising young defenders are in the spotlight at Liverpool, with one already receiving a well-deserved contract renewal and the other reportedly on the verge of securing his new deal.
According to reports by Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool’s board is progressing in negotiations to renew two of the squad’s defenders in the coming moments with Quansah signing a new deal today. The Reds have a lot of work to do in terms of renewals.
What it means for the Reds
Liverpool’s board is actively working on contract renewals, with key players like Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk all facing the possibility of their contracts expiring at the end of the season if extensions aren’t agreed upon.
The 21-year-old signed a four-year contract in May 2023, but Liverpool’s board finally decided that the Englishman should stick around with the club as his performances has been wonderful with 35 appearances already for the club. His passion and hunger for winning made it easy to give Quansah a contract till 2028.
At the same time, talks are underway for Ibrahima Konate’s contract renewal, although negotiations are still in the early stages. Konate’s camp is in no rush, as his current deal runs until June 2026.
The board remains committed to securing long-term futures for their top players, though it’s anticipated that at least one (Salah) may be playing his final matches for Liverpool.
“Negotiations have started with Ibrahima Konaté in a very positive atmosphere because Konaté is very happy at Liverpool, and Liverpool are prepared now to offer him an important contract with a salary rise.”
