It looks like Liverpool are preparing for life without Mohamed Salah, with the Egyptian international’s contract expiring at the end of the ongoing season, and the Reds are reportedly looking at Borussia Dortmund wide forward Karim Adeyemi to replace the highly acclaimed Mo.
The 23-year-old has been impressing in the German top tier and already has considerable experience in European football. He is one of the players who gets supporters on the edge of their seats when he gets the ball at his feet. He not only possesses thunderous pace and power but also has the dribbling skills to unlock defences. Moreover, his versatile profile means he can play along the offensive line.
To put things into perspective on the pace side of things, Karim Adeyemi recorded a top speed of 36.65 km/h in the 2022/23 season, where he broke the German top tier’s record for top speed. However, that was eclipsed only this season with a mere 0.02 km/h. That being said, you can see him terrorizing full back with his blistering pace running behind in the Premier League.
However, there is a problem. Despite his attributes, he has one weakness: injuries. The 23-year-old has a difficult injury record, having missed 33 games owing to multiple injuries in the 2022/23 season. And replacing the presence of Salah with that record on the treatment table makes it a risky gamble for the Merseyside Reds.
Liverpool monitoring Adeyemi
Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg insists that Liverpool are monitoring the wide-forward for the 2025 transfer windows. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, he wrote:
“Liverpool are monitoring Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi. LFC are considering him as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah. Several top clubs are following the situation of the 22-year-old. However, his injury-proneness is a concern for potential suitors. Adeyemi’s contract with BVB runs until 2027.”
