Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander Arnold has been subject to links with a move away from Anfield Stadium as he is one of the key trio of players, alongside Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, whose contract with the Reds is due under 12 months.
The Merseyside-based club has been pushing to extend their contracts; however, at this point it looks difficult for Liverpool to hold all three of them.
Saudi Pro sides are looking to land Mo Salah on a free transfer, while Trent has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid. Given his abilities to produce magic the ball, it is clear why Los Blancos would be interested in landing the 26-year-old full back.
Moreover, Real are looking at long-term replacements for Dani Carvajal, and Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly identified the Reds right back as an ideal candidate to do so.
Hutchinson urges Trent to join Real Madrid
And acknowledging the links with a move to Real Madrid, former Liverpool star Don Hutchison has admitted that the player should leave his boyhood side to pursue greatness at Santiago Bernabeu. He insists that moving to the Galacticos is an opportunity too good to turn down.
Speaking to ESPN, Hutchinson said:
“It has been a topic of discussion between me and pals. I think the honest answer is, I think you have to go Real Madrid. You have to try it. Trent has been at Liverpool for 20 years. He has won everything there is to win in the game. Liverpool fans would be desperate for him to stay, and rightly so, because he is a great player.
“But if you are Trent and your contract is running down, you can play for Liverpool, you can win trophies and be a legend at the football club. One club man. All of that. Or you can try and go to Real Madrid. You are playing with Jude Bellingham, Vini Junior, Mbappe and all the legends that are playing there. You can put on the white shirt, test it and see if you are good enough. You can win more Champions Leagues. You can win La Ligas. There is plenty of time for Trent still to come back, so if I was in his shoes, I would go.”
For Trent, it will be interesting to see what he does with multiple options open for him. That being said, joining Madrid does assure trophies.
