Brazilian international Estevao Willian, set to join Chelsea from Palmeiras next summer, is already acquainted with several Premier League stars, including Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who has been with the Reds since 2018. The Chelsea wonderkid has already managed to irritate Alisson during training, even before officially completing his move to the Premier League.

The Brazilian teenager, Estevao Willian, has agreed to a £56 million move to Chelsea and will officially join next summer after turning 18, alongside Ecuadorian sensation Kendry Paez. Despite his young age, Estevao has already earned two international caps and is rapidly gaining a global reputation.

How it unfolded

Thanks to his international call-ups, Estevao has had the opportunity to play alongside some of the world’s top players. Last month, he featured in Brazil’s match against Ecuador, sharing the pitch with the likes of Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes, and Real Madrid stars Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

It seems Estevao has already tested the patience of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson during training sessions. The Palmeiras star is eager to challenge his compatriot once he arrives in England, setting the stage for a future rivalry between the two Brazilians in the Premier League.

Speaking to the Guardian, Estevao explained what went in the training Grounds..

“In shooting training, I started to hit all the shots and Alisson got a bit angry. He said he was still warming up, that I should wait a little bit. But I took it a bit seriously and scored many goals [against] him,”

“He took it all in jest, but I hope that next year I can do again against him in [Premier League] matches. We’ll see a lot of each other in England.”

“I like Neymar a lot too, Cristiano Ronaldo. But my reference is [Lionel] Messi for everything he’s done for football,” Estêvão acknowledged.”

“The way he plays and what he does off the pitch is a guy I always have to look up to. And, of course, for me being left-footed like him favors as well.”

Estevao has scored 15 goals in 42 appearances this season from the wing and has already dubbed comparisons to Lionel Messi. Dubbed ‘Messinho’, the star destined for Chelsea has some frustration with the suggestion but appreciates the World Cup winner alongside other superstars. We wish the best for his future as he looks out to be one of the most anticipated upcoming ballers.
