Liverpool have been vying a move to sign a central defender in the 2025 transfer windows as the Reds are short in the position at the moment. The Merseyside-based club failed to replace Joel Matip following his summer exit, and the duo of Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah have got their own injury problems, which got Arne Slot looking in the transfer market to make up for the

The aforementioned problems weren’t enough that Liverpool now have a new defensive concern in finding a potential replacement for Virgil van Dijk, whose future at Anfield Stadium is under scrutiny owing to his contract situation at the club.

Liverpool has been looking at a potential move for French centre-back Castello Lukeba, who has been highly impressive for RB Leipzig in recent years. The German side forked out €30 million to sign the Frenchman when they sold Josko Gvardiol to Manchester City, and he has proven to be a worthy investment.

However, they wouldn’t be able to hold him for long given his performances in the German top tier as the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid circle around to land his signatures.

While the prospect of landing Lukeba was a difficult one, now Unai Emery is leading a charge with Aston Villa to sign the Frenchman in the upcoming winter transfer window, per CaughtOffSide. Another Premiership heavyweight, Chelsea, has also expressed interest in landing the French international.

RB Leipzig are said to be holding out for around £60m for Lukeba, as they are determined to make a massive profit on his services.
