Liverpool are set to undergo a revamp in their goalkeeping department, and this ideally starts with Alisson Becker, who has been subject to links with a move away from Anfield Stadium. And his deputy, Caoimhin Kelleher, who was ideally suited to replace the Brazilian international between the sticks, is also expected to bid adieu to his time at Kirkby.
The 25-year-old has done enough to command a regular role at the club, and he has been looking to pursue a move away from the Merseyside Reds in order to get those regular minutes under his belt.
Liverpool are prepared to sanction a departure in the next summer window, per Football Insider.
Liverpool could lose Caoimhin Kelleher
Caoimhin Kelleher has been more than a reliable backup to Alisson over the past couple of years, and he was aiming for the number one spot if the Brazilian goalkeeper were to depart; however, the Reds move to secure Giorgi Mamardashvili complicates the situation. Mamardashvili has agreed to a precontract at L4, and that means Kelleher will have to peek elsewhere to secure a starting spot.
He does have a contract at Anfield Stadium till 2026, and that means the Reds will have an upper hand in any potential negotiations for his exit.
While his future remains uncertain, he is set to be an important figure at Liverpool over the next few weeks as the Reds prepare for life with Alisson once again, owing to his hamstring problems.
Liverpool are set to face Chelsea, followed by a Champions League fixture against RB Leipzig in the up-long midweek, with Kelleher expected to start in both games.
