Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has been subject to links with a move away from Anfield Stadium as his contract with the Reds comes due in less than twelve months. And the officials in the cubicles at Kirkby have already started looking for potential alternatives that the Premier League heavyweights can target in case the Egyptian international chooses to move away.

While Borussia Dortmund wide forward Karim Adeyemi was suggested to be one of the potential candidates to take up Salah’s throne, Spanish publication Defensa Central understands that Liverpool are also looking at Real Madrid winger Rodrygo. The Merseyside Reds are keeping as close tabs on his situation with Los Blancos as he could on receiving end of limited minutes after the arrival of Kylian Mbappe at Santiago Bernabeu.

While speculation suggested that the Brazilian may lose his place under Carlo Ancelotti as the French World Cup winner arrives, however, that has not been the case yet. The 23-year-old has maintained his place in the line-up with Mbappe taking up a central spot, and unless Los Blancos bring in a marquee striker to complement Mbappe, Rodrygo’s place in the side seems cemented for now.

That being said, the Brazilian international has been aware of the strong interest in his services, including that of Arne Slot’s side, who are willing to pay a significant fee to land the 23-year-old as they look at Rodrygo should Salah depart in the upcoming summer window.

A move to Liverpool looks like a win-win for all parties, as Rodríguez will get a fixed place in one of Europe’s most elite, Madrid will be compensated fairly while having a place to play Mbappe in his preferred right wing position, and the Reds will get their Mo Salah replacement.

However, everything is only on paper right now; we will see how this rumour progresses in the upcoming weeks.
