Liverpool star Luis Diaz delivered a fantastic goalscoring performance for Colombia in the 4-0 World Cup qualification victory over Chile. The 27-year-old has continued his sensational form at the international level, contributing consistently and shunning past criticism about his output.

The Colombian international has played ahead of in-form Cody Gakpo during the start of the current season under Arne Slot. Diaz has enjoyed more success under the new head coach with a slight shift in the club’s tactical playing style.

Liverpool are playing with calmness and control under Slot, picking moments to go direct while saving their energy at times. Under the legendary former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, the Reds played a more direct brand of football with constant attacks.

The new style has allowed the attackers to regulate their energy and act with more composure in the attacking third. The 27-year-old has five goals and an assist from nine appearances in all competitions so far this season for Liverpool.

Diaz scored the second goal for Colombia against Chile after a hard press from the Colombian attackers causing an error. According to the SofaScore, the 27-year-old made four successful dribble attempts and won four ground duels during his goalscoring performance.

Furthermore, Diaz boasted 85% passing accuracy with 100% accurate long balls while delivering one key pass for his Colombian side. Luis Sinisterra replaced Diaz in the 76th minute of the game with a comfortable 2-0 scoreline as Colombia dominated Chile.

Diaz and Gakpo will play a crucial role once club football returns to action after the international break this weekend. The Reds will face Chelsea at Anfield in the Premier League clash followed by a series of tough games.

Liverpool will face RB Leipzig in the Champions League followed by a Premier League top-of-the-table clash with currently third-place Arsenal. The fixture congestions demand rotation policy while both Gakpo and Diaz need to produce performances consistently for the Reds to maintain a threat from their left-wing position.
