Liverpool have been subject to links with multiple defenders off late; however, Sevilla centre-back Loic Bade has been named among the links to Anfield Stadium multiple times, and as per the latest by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Loic Bade is a player that the Merseyside Reds are keen on signing.

The Premier League heavyweights are preparing for Virgil van Dijk’s departure, which could prematurely come if the chiefs at Kirkby aren’t able to agree on new terms with the Dutch defender, who has less than twelve months on his current contract at the club. And Liverpool look at the Sevilla defender as a potential long-term replacement for the former Southampton centre-back.

His current employers, Sevilla, are expected to hold out for at least a €20 million fee for the 2024 Paris Olympics silver medallist’s services.

Can Bade fill Van Dijk’s shoes at Liverpool?

Bade has taken massive strides in the previous campaign, having established himself as one of the best defenders in the Spanish top tier since moving to Sevilla from French side Stade Rennais last year, and his progress hasn’t gone unnoticed as multiple European elites, including Liverpool, have expressed interest in securing the 24-year-old.

The Reds interest in the Frenchman seems more than understandable. Firstly, they want someone to replace Matip on the roster at the AXA training centre and then follow that up with replacing Van Dijk over the long term, and a profile like Bade fits both possibilities.

At the aforementioned price, a move for Bade looks like a bargain in the current market, especially given his highly potential complemented by the promise that he has shown in the Spanish top tier off late.
