Egypt journalist reveals that many from his country believe Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush could supersede Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah. Marmoush has enjoyed an incredible start to the current season for Third who are currently fourth in the Bundesliga table.
The German club have scored 14 goals in the Bundesliga, fourth highest behind Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart. The 25-year-old’s influence has played a pivotal role in Frankfurt’s six wins from nine games in all competitions so far.
Player analysis: Omar Marmoush
Standing at 1.83 metres, Marmoush is a right-footed attack capable of playing in multiple positions and utilising his left foot. The Egyptian attacker can play at both flanks and behind the main striker apart from his natural centre-forward role.
The 25-year-old possesses the pace, stamina and strength to create chaos in the opposition defence and is backed by his creativity. Marmoush makes many progressive carries and links up well with his teammates to build a threat in the attacking third.
The Egypt international works hard selflessly and fits the high-pressing system that the Reds deploy under head coach Arne Slot. The 25-year-old has scored nine goals and provided six assists from nine games in all competitions for Frankfurt so far.
Egyptian journalist Tarek Metwally told BILD that his countrymen believe Marmoush can supersede the legendary career of Salah. He said:
“Everyone here is predicting a very great future for him. In my opinion, Marmoush is in a better position than Salah was at his age. If he continues like this, he will be better at some point. Salah was initially characterised by his speed, then developed further. Marmoush, on the other hand, is also very fast but already has other skills. Some people in Egypt would like to see him in the Premier League, especially at one of the top clubs. I am not exaggerating when I say that Frankfurt’s last game against Bayern was watched by Egyptian fans in a similar way to Salah’s games with Liverpool, for example against Manchester United, Manchester City or Real Madrid.”
According to Sky Germany (via Florian Plettenberg’s X), Liverpool want Marmoush in 2025 to bolster their attack. The Egypt international could challenge or replace any player in the Liverpool attack if he continues to deliver consistent performances.
Salah is playing in the last season of his current contract with uncertainty surrounding the contract negotiation. Nevertheless, the 32-year-old has maintained his proficiency in front of goal and performances that prove he has a lot left.

At the same time, Marmoush could join as a replacement for Darwin Nunez considering the Uruguayan faces a make-or-break season. Nunez has suffered from stern criticism throughout his tenure at the club despite delivering decent numbers in goals and assists. Meanwhile, Diogo Jota has maintained his reputation as the second-best finisher after Salah but struggles with overall performances.
