Liverpool defender Trent Alexander Arnold has been subject to links with a move away from Anfield Stadium, with Champions League champions Real Madrid looking to secure his signatures. Los Blancos have expressed aggressive interest in landing the England international whose contract at the Merseyside-based club concludes in less than twelve months.

The chiefs at Kirkby are trying hard to agree on contractual terms with the player and his representatives; however, the talks are progressing slowly at the moment, and Madrid want to take advantage of the situation and land the 26-year-old right-sided full back with Carlo Ancelotti being the driving force behind his signatures.

Real Madrid’s January move for Alexander-Arnold unlikely

Real Madrid won’t pay big for Alexander-Arnold in January

However, according to a recent report by ABC via Sport Witness, the Spanish giants aren’t showing heavy interest to land Trent in the January transfer window unless his current employers do a significant drop in his asking price. Liverpool wouldn’t be willing to give any hefty discounts on a move for Trent in the winter window, meaning Madrid would have to try and sell her his signatures on a free transfer when the summer window comes around.

There have been reports suggesting that the player has already decided on joining Real Madrid on a Bosman deal when his contract at Anfield Stadium expires with the conclusion of the season. Further stories have emerged suggesting that the 26-year-old has been speaking to his ‘best friend’ Jude Bellingham about life in Madrid and a possible transfer.

Judging the fact of the situation, Real Madrid need a right back in the winter window owing to Dani Carvajal’s injury, which will push him out of contention for the starting ongoing campaign. That is when links suggesting a January move for Trent intensified; however, Florentino Perez wouldn’t be taken to such a move unless Liverpool significantly lower their asking price.

That being said, for Liverpool, the priority should be to extend Trent’s contract and keep him at L4 for years to come.
