Liverpool enjoyed a magnificent evening at Anfield Stadium as the Reds secured a thumping win over Chelsea earlier today. Arne Slot’s side continued their run of magnificent form as the Merseysiders reclaimed the top spot in the Premier League table.

When the Reds returned from the last international break, they endured a slow start when Nuno Esprito Santo’s Nottingham Forest secured a 1-0 win at Anfield Stadium. And this time around the challenge was bigger as Arne Slot’s side welcomed Chelsea to L4, but it looks like Liverpool have learnt their lesson.

Veteran full back Andy Robertson in his post-game interview suggested how their loss against Forest after the international break was a wake-up call this time around, and that played in their minds coming into the game against the West Londoners.

Speaking in an interview to BBC’s MOTD, the Scotland international said:

“It is always like that – two good teams going at it. We have had good games over the years against them. It is always difficult.

“It took us a little time to get going but once we did I think we were quite comfortable in the first half. In the second we defended really well and limited them.

“After the last international break we let ourselves down against Nottingham Forest and we were determined to put that right and I think we did that.

“There are different ways to win and today was one we had to grind out. We have played better this season but we got two crucial goes and defended well for the most part.”

It is great to see the team learning from their past mistakes, as going up against the duo of Arsenal and Manchester City for the title means even a single loss of focus along the season could prove hefty.

While Nottingham Forest happened very early in the season, it serves as an example of how the team should come only thinking about winning without losing any of their intensity and momentum along the international break.

What Liverpool faced against Nottingham, the same happened to Arsenal this weekend when Bournemouth secured a surprise win against Mikel Arteta’s side, who will turn hosts next weekend when the Reds visit the Emirates Stadium in top of the table six-pointer clash.
