Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move away from Anfield Stadium, with Spanish giants Real Madrid looking to pounce on his services in the next summer window. The England international’s contract at L4 is due after the conclusion of the current campaign, and there have been speculations that the 26-year-old will move away when his contract comes due.
While the chiefs at Kirkby have been pondering possibilities to try and extend Arnold’s contract, they are also exploring possibilities to replace the academy graduate as Arne Slot & Co. identify possible replacements going into the 2025 transfer intervals.
Liverpool linked to Barcelona’s Jules Kounde
The Merseyside Reds are reportedly looking at Barcelon’s right-cum-centre-back Jules Kounde, per Fichajes. The French international moved to Camp Nou over a couple of years ago, and he has proven to be quite a reliable performer in dense situations. And looking back, he was extremely important for Sevilla as well before making a move to Catalonia.
While Kounde would be a quality addition, if Arne Slot is looking for a road-running technical fullback that could be capable of playing inside as well as on the outside, then the officials at the AXA training centre need to look away from the Frenchman.
However, if they are quite cemented on Kounde, the financial problems at The Blaugrana could persuade them to sell the 25-year-old on a cheap fee and give Liverpool an opportunity to secure a top-quality player at a potentially reduced price.
For Liverpool, they will need to consider short as well as long-term needs as they look to get around Trent’s potential exit.
