Liverpool star Cody Gakpo delivered another sensational performance against RB Leipzig, starting ahead of in-form Luis Diaz in back-to-back games. Gakpo and Diaz have maintained a top level of consistency and played a pivotal role in the Reds’ early success.

Liverpool secured their 11th victory from the first 12 games in all competitions with a 0-1 away victory against Leipzig. They have won the first three Champions League fixtures but the danger still looms with tough opponents in the competition.

Liverpool will also face German champions Bayer Leverkusen, Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven and last year’s Champions League winners Real Madrid. Furthermore, they will also face Girona and LOSC Lille as part of the five remaining Champions League, League phase fixtures.

Gakpo and Diaz will gain significant time to continue their impressive form as the rotation policy plays a key role. Liverpool faces Arsenal in the Premier League next with the Colombian international’s high likelihood of playing ahead of the Dutchman.

Gakpo played the full game against Leipzig ahead of Diaz while his fellow attackers, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, received time to rest for the upcoming big game between Liverpool and Arsenal. Nevertheless, the Dutch international might still play a key role from the bench for the Reds on Sunday.

According to Squawka Live, Gakpo registered joint-most duels won with five against Leipzig and created the most chances with four. Furthermore, the Dutchman registered the most shots (four) and won the most fouls (four) in a fantastic all-round performance.

Gakpo faced unnecessarily high criticism after Liverpool lost the FA Cup tie against Manchester United during the last season. However, the Dutchman bounced back quickly when legendary manager Jurgen Klopp started playing him at his natural left-wing position.

Klopp mostly used Gakpo as the utility player last season, using his versatility to counter the severe injury crisis. The 25-year-old has delivered consistently for his club and country with incredible performances after the March international break. Liverpool needs Gakpo to continue that form under new head coach Arne Slot as the ruthless new schedule takes a toll.
