Federico Chiesa, who joined Liverpool in August from Juventus, was initially hailed as a major deal for the Reds. The Italian international, a standout performer for Juventus and a key figure in Italy’s Euro-winning squad arrived in a cut-price deal that excited fans and the Italian media alike. However, Chiesa has made just one Premier League appearance so far, as he struggles to find his place under Arne Slot’s management. Now, Italian outlet Calciomercato suggests the winger could be on his way back to Italy, as he has struggled to settle into English football.

Arne Slot acknowledged Federico Chiesa’s frustration over the lack of football, as the player has only accumulated 78 minutes of playing time in a Liverpool shirt. According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, a potential loan move away from Anfield could be on the cards, with three Serie A clubs reportedly expressing interest in bringing the Italian international back to his home country.

What would be best for the Azzurri International?

Speaking to the pre-match conference, Arne Slot had some words about Chiesa

“It’s difficult to say when he will return, it’s frustrating for him to be in and out of training sessions,” the Dutchman explained. “He missed the entire pre-season preparation and then [joined a league] where the intensity is higher than in Serie A. We continue to hope that he can provide a significant contribution when he is fit.”

Federico Chiesa, earning £150,000 per week, hasn’t yet been given a concrete return date, and Slot’s recent comments don’t indicate that a loan move is imminent. Liverpool seem focused on getting him up to the physical standards required for their style of play. With the season still in its early stages, much like Arsenal’s Raheem Sterling, Chiesa currently sits as a sixth-choice attacker. However, he could prove invaluable later in the season, particularly as injuries begin to pile up across the Premier League’s demanding schedule, and if Liverpool remain in the hunt for multiple trophies.

Federico Chiesa’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain as the club waits for him to regain full fitness.
Liverpool hope Chiesa will play a crucial role later in the season once he regains his physical best, despite his limited playing time so far. The note underscores Liverpool’s patience and long-term vision for integrating Chiesa into their system.
