Liverpool have received a big setback ahead of their forthcoming Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in London. One of their key strikers has been ruled out for the eminent high-voltage clash.

It is worth noting that the £140,000 per week footballer was substituted during the Reds’ match against Chelsea last week after suffering a chest injury when the Pensioners’ defender Tosin Adarabioyo fell on top of him while making a challenge.

This makes another addition to Arne Slot’s side’s injured player list which already contains some big names like Federico Chiesa and their stellar goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Diogo Jota unavailable for Arsenal encounter

Liverpool boss Slot has cleared out that Diogo Jota will be unavailable for the Arsenal encounter which is scheduled for October 27. He is one of the key frontline figures of the two-time Champions League winners, scoring four goals and two assists across ten appearances across all the competitions this season. The Portuguese also missed Liverpool’s Champions League match against the German club RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

“Federico might train with us today or tomorrow, Diogo definitely not and let’s see if Conor Bradley can be with us tomorrow.”

The Dutch football manager also shed light on the prospects of Alisson, who remains out with a hamstring injury suffered in their win against Crystal Palace on October 5.

“He’s (Alisson) progressing well like we expect but it’s not a short-term recovery, so always difficult to judge him, I think the best way to judge an injury is in the end of an injury, the end phase of his rehab, and he’s not there yet.”

The absence of Jota is a grave concern for Liverpool as he has been instrumental in their stellar campaign so far this season in English top-tier football. Though their other front liners like Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah are going through a pretty good form, they strongly need the Porto-born footballer to take on a formidable side like the Gunners.

Liverpool reigns top in this season’s English League points table as of now, winning seven of their eight encounters so far. This has turned out to be a dream start to Slot’s managerial stint at Anfield.

Moving further, the 46-year-old would be keen to carry on their cinematic run and present a strong bid for the highly prestigious title. However, things will not be easy for him when they take on Mikel Arteta’s boys who have also lost just a single game this season. Let’s wait and see how it plays out.
