Liverpool icon Fabinho believes new head coach Arne Slot is doing a “very good job”, demanding consistency until the end. Fabinho pinpointed Manchester City as the team to beat but consistency could bring important trophies for the Reds this season.
Slot succeeded legendary manager Jurgen Klopp during the summer and only signed forward Federico Chiesa to the squad he inherited. The Dutchman’s subtle method of implementing his tactics in the pre-existing philosophy allowed players to flourish and enhance their efficiency.
Liverpool have not reached anywhere near their best but managed to secure consistent victories since the start of the campaign. The quality to achieve victory when a team is not at its best differentiates a trophy-winning team from the rest.
The Reds have won 12 games from 14 matches which includes a loss to Nottingham Forest and an Arsenal draw. Liverpool have played as a formidable defensive unit under Slot, maintaining spatial awareness and narrowing the play out the possession.
The Reds have only conceded nine goals from 14 of those games in all competitions under the new tactics. Furthermore, Slot’s style has changed the required profile of a defensive midfielder compared to what Liverpool under the era of Klopp.
Ryan Gravenberch has successfully adapted to the defensive midfield role, playing according to his strength and as a crucial cog. Whereas, under Klopp, Liverpool needed a defensive midfielder with mobility and defensive priority to cover space and fulfil the tasks.
That is the reason why Fabinho played a pivotal role in Klopp’s success and helped the Reds win numerous trophies. Meanwhile, Liverpool wants Gravenberch to do the same thing under Slot at the club but in a vastly different manner.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, Fabinho believes that Slot could challenge Man City if Liverpool can maintain their consistency until the end. He said:
“Unfortunately Man City are still the team to beat, but Arne Slot is doing a very good job, I really hope Liverpool will keep this run until the end of the season and hopefully bring some important trophies this season.”
If Liverpool could stay away from an injury crisis and complacency, they could achieve success at a critical stage where they failed last season under Klopp.
