Cody Gakpo continued his goalscoring form against Brighton & Hove Albion, helping Liverpool secure a victory in the Premier League. The Reds beat Brighton 2-1 at Anfield after securing a victory against the Seagulls in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Liverpool are now back at the top of the Premier League table after Manchester City lost their game against Bournemouth. The Reds struggled at the start of the game and Brighton scored a 14th-minute goal while effectively using high pressing.

Liverpool dominated the second half to make a comeback with Gakpo scoring the equaliser after constantly threatening at the left-flank. Legendary forward Mohamed Salah scored the minute just two minutes after the equaliser, taking advantage of the shift in momentum.

The heatmap and Sofascore rating of Liverpool star Cody Gapko in his goalscoring performance against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Gakpo has continued his fine run of form since the latter stages of last season for both club and country. The 25-year-old faced criticism last season for failing to contribute immensely compared to other attacking options at the club.

However, former manager Jurgen Klopp used Gakpo a lot as a utility player, putting him in several different positions. The different roles due to an injury crisis affected Gakpo’s ability to contribute consistently as he delivered selfless shifts.

However, head coach Arne Slot has used Gakpo solely at his preferred left-wing position and he has delivered consistently. The Dutch international faces fantastic internal competition from in-form Luis Diaz which only benefits the Reds.

According to Sofascore, Gakpo enjoyed 90% passing accuracy with one key pass and one successful dribble attempt. The 25-year-old won three out of four ground duels and earned a foul during his all-round performance at the left flank.

Furthermore, Gakpo helped Tsimikas by tracking back, making one clearance and one successful tackle during the game. The Dutch international continues to thrive and has a key role to play during the fixture congestion as Liverpool face Bayer Leverkusen next.
