Former Arsenal defender William Gallas chastised the Gunners for making excuses despite winning nothing yet amid the resurgence of Liverpool. The atmosphere around Arsenal among their fans and officials is highly negative after their 0-1 loss to Inter on Wednesday.
The London club has constantly pushed the narrative that they are suffering from an injury crisis and facing extreme tiredness. However, the Gunners failed to win any trophy last season despite enjoying an injury-free season compared to their competitive rivals.
Meanwhile, Liverpool suffered heavily from an injury crisis last season which cost them major trophies under former manager Jurgen Klopp. The legendary and much-adored German manager departed the club after a successful decade-long stint, installing a positive philosophy and culture.
Liverpool appointed Arne Slot as the new head coach under a very different hierarchy with pundits predicting a tough season. They have maintained their philosophy of spending wisely compared to their high-spending rivals, signing only Federico Chiesa for this season.
Nevertheless, Slot made subtle changes to add his tactical brilliance to the squad he inherited instead of stomping his identity. The humble approach provided Liverpool with a more efficient approach to grinding out results despite not reaching their best.
Liverpool are still far from an end product as Slot continues to mark his unique style into the squad. However, his instant impact has put more pressure on rival clubs like Arsenal where Mikel Arteta has spent enormous money.
Speaking to Prime Casino, Gallas mocked Arsenal for making excuses despite winning nothing so far and praised Liverpool simultaneously. He said:
“Arsenal has won absolutely nothing! Nothing. Why are they tired? Their arms don’t ache form lifting trophies. Explain to me why they are tired. Liverpool, they don’t look tired, they look like they’re ready to fight for the title.”
Arsenal have applied the “dark arts” extensively under Arteta, one of the former pupils of Pep Guardiola, which shocked many. However, everything has failed for the Gunners as they have nothing tangible to show despite enjoying the media’s relentless backing.

Meanwhile, Slot and Liverpool would prefer to work silently and out of the spotlight as the Reds never gained positive reinforcement from the British media. They need to maintain their consistency to outperform their rivals, irrespective of the toughness of the fixture this season.
