Liverpool head coach Arne Slot believes that becoming a father has improved the performance of Curtis Jones in recent games. The Dutch boss also highlighted the quality of the team as the performance of every incoming player is consistently good.

The Reds have won 14 out of 16 games in all competitions under a new tactical style implemented by Slot. Liverpool are at the top of the Premier League and the Champions League table after recently beating Bayer Leverkusen 4-0.

They are facing the opposition of incredible quality during the fixture congestion with the first period ending against Aston Villa. The Merseyside giants would want to beat the Villans and go into the November international break on a high note.

Liverpool have a strong squad depth and Slot has used it according to the opposition after the October international break. Jones has established himself as a key midfielder player, rotating with the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

The 23-year-old has one goal and four assists from 12 games in all competitions this season, playing a crucial role. Jones has enjoyed Slot’s style of play which emphasizes more on control and suits his strengths well.

The Englishman has a strong ball-playing attribute and the ability to maintain possession in tight spaces in the midfield. Jones has maintained a high level of consistency despite rotating with other midfielders and enjoys a good chemistry with teammates.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference (via Liverpoolfc.com), Slot revealed that Jones has increased the level of performance since becoming a father. He said:

“With Curtis, maybe it’s not me who did it because he became a father and I had nothing to do with that! You never know if that plays a part or not, but since the moment he became a father he started putting great performances in, and he already did this in the first few weeks that we worked together in pre-season. I was like, ‘Quality player!’ But then his performances dropped a bit. But since the moment, like I just said, he became a father, he’s outstanding again.”

Furthermore, the Liverpool head coach highlighted that the quality of the team helps enhance individual performances. He added:

“It might have to do a bit with that but in general I think it has to do with the way the team plays, because every player that comes in has a good performance – and that probably tells you a lot about the quality of the team, how they play together. As a result of that, individual performances are good as well.”
