Liverpool head coach Arne Slot refused to hype up the club’s current position after beating Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield. The Dutchman highlighted all the serious challenges that await the club once the November international break ends in two weeks.

Liverpool have won 15 out of 17 games in all competitions, enjoying success in the hectic post-October international break congestion. The Reds beat Chelsea, RB Leipzig, Brighton & Hove Albion twice and Bayer Leverkusen while earning a draw against Arsenal.

Liverpool have conceded only 10 goals in all competitions from those 17 games as their defensive formidability shows immense improvement. The Reds are still far from a team playing in their prime but winning the winnable games is very crucial.

However, Liverpool faces tough opponents after the November international break ends and the fixture congestion continues, lacking period to rest. The Merseyside giants will play Southampton after the international break followed by huge games against Real Madrid and Manchester City.

The fixture congestion will continue until the end of January and then the tension will rise depending on Liverpool’s position. Liverpool cannot confirm anything until the end of the season, regardless of the gap they create between themselves and teams like Manchester City and Arsenal.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot wants the team to avoid the repeat of their mistakes against Nottingham Forest by continuously reminding them of the tough fixtures ahead.

Speaking to TNT Sport (via BEINsport), Slot refused to hype up the impressive start from Liverpool after winning the bout against Villa. He said:

“If I look at the games that are ahead, they are tough. It will be a tough season in general. Margins are small, we have a margin, but it is small. [There are] many challenges to come for us.”

Liverpool suffered immensely last season due to the complacency that they showed in games during the campaign under Jurgen Klopp. The Reds cannot afford to display the same problems this season, risking another implosion like late last season.

The truth is that the squad cannot blame the staff for this issue as Klopp also focused on each game at a time. Nevertheless, the manager has to remind the players of their past errors and remove such critical factors to achieve success.
