Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson puts his poor Arsenal misery aside to build on Aston Villa’s performance with Scotland against Croatia. The 30-year-old demonstrated his resilience and quality, helping Scotland beat Croatia 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League game on Friday.

Building on his impressive Liverpool performance against Villa, Robertson silenced critics who targeted his display against Arsenal late in October. The Scotland captain accepted his slumber and vowed to make improvements, something he immediately proved through these performances.

Liverpool have won 15 out of 17 games in all competitions under the new head coach Arne Slot this season. The Reds have surprised their biggest critics and entertained the Kopites with a more controlled and well-balanced style under Slot.

The left-back position faced uncertainties since last season as Kostas Tsimikas and Robertson struggled with nagging injuries and performance inconsistencies. However, both players have displayed drastic improvement with Robertson playing a key role against Villa before the November international break.

Against Croatia, Robertson displayed excellent composure and efficiency on the ball, completing 91% of his passes from 77 touches. He orchestrated Scotland’s attacks with one key pass and delivered two accurate long balls to stretch the opposition. These contributions highlighted his vision and ability to influence the game from the left flank.

Defensively, Robertson stood firm, winning one of his three ground duels and one of his two aerial duels. He contributed eight clearances and made one crucial tackle, showcasing his leadership in Scotland’s defensive setup. His ability to read the game and execute decisive interventions reaffirmed his value to the team.
