Liverpool are currently performing exceptionally well under manager Arne Slot, sitting at the top of both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League tables. The Reds lead the Premier League by five points, ahead of defending champions Manchester City, while they also top their Champions League group.

Key players are stepping up, with midfielder Curtis Jones impressing for England in the UEFA Nations League against Greece. Another standout performer for Liverpool is goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who has been showcasing his talent in the team’s recent successes.

With Alisson currently sidelined, Caoimhin Kelleher has stepped up and delivered superb performances for Liverpool. The 25-year-old goalkeeper, who has been at the club since his youth days, is also the number one for the Republic of Ireland.

Despite earning £10,000 per week and being overshadowed by Alisson, Kelleher has made just 55 appearances for Liverpool, yet he has managed to keep an impressive 19 clean sheets. His recent form has further highlighted his potential and value to the team.

TalkSPORT pundit makes Caoimhin Kelleher vs Alisson claim

Former Chelsea and Republic of Ireland international striker Tony Cascarino has been highly impressed by Caoimhin Kelleher. The talkSPORT pundit speaking in the latest episode believed Liverpool should not sell Kelleher and suggests that he could retain his place in the team even after Alisson recovers from injury.

Caoimhin Kelleher has become a key player for both Liverpool and the Republic of Ireland, with his performances gaining significant recognition. His rapid development has led to growing confidence in his abilities, making him a crucial figure for Ireland, particularly in their upcoming match against England. Kelleher’s impressive form for Liverpool has sparked speculation that, even when Alisson recovers from injury, Liverpool may not immediately revert to the Brazilian as the first-choice goalkeeper. His exceptional performances this season have led to many believing that Kelleher could be the future for Liverpool in goal.

The Pundit explained,

“He has now become Ireland’s most important player, and he’s going to have to be the most important player when they play England tomorrow for Ireland to have any chance at all.

“Kelleher has moved up pretty quickly, and I think it would be a mad mistake and I think in some ways Arne Slot might look at Kelleher and think he is the future, yes, we have made a goalkeeping change, Alisson was our number one.

“I am not so sure he will drop Kelleher when Alisson’s fit, I am not convinced by that at all. He has been sensational for Liverpool.”

Kelleher’s future at Liverpool appears uncertain. In October, he expressed a desire to leave in the summer of 2024, but for now, his focus remains on playing regularly for the Reds. With the potential arrival of Giorgi in the next season and the continued presence of Alisson, Kelleher may face stiff competition for the starting spot, making his long-term future at Anfield less promising.
