Arne Slot hails Jurgen Klopp impact as Liverpool end Real Madrid hoodoo.

Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold praised head coach Arne Slot for providing a detailed game plan before every match this season. Alexander-Arnold highlighted the need to have mutual trust between the senior squad and the head coach to fulfil their obligations.

The senior squad has enjoyed playing under Slot since he succeeded legendary manager Jurgen Klopp this summer, eliminating many concerns. A lot of football pundits and fans predicted that Liverpool would struggle after Klopp left Anfield like other clubs have.

Manchester United are reeling from the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson after a decade while the same happened to Arsenal. Many believed that succeeding Klopp is a daunting task for anyone but Slot proved that he is a perfect fit.

The Dutchman has humbly accepted the squad he inherited and avoided making any drastic changes as other managers do. Usually, the managers who succeed a legendary figure act rashly to implement their ideas and mark their identity at the club.

However, Slot maintained the same philosophy that Klopp installed at Liverpool and only added more tools to the senior team. He has emphasized more effectiveness, balanced the risk-reward factor and demanded more dominance in each phase of the game.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Trent highlighted the trust that the Liverpool squad have in the tactical game plan that Slot provides. He said:

“We’re just so kind of assured that we’re going to get results in games because we believe so much in [the] game plan. It’s always important, especially under a new manager, to have a relationship that works both ways, which is what we’ve got. He needs to believe in us that we’re good enough to carry out the game plans and go and get the results and understand and apply what he tells us to do. Likewise, us as players, we need to see that the style of play and the tactics and the game plans are working and will get us results. I think from the first few games we really got that and then from then on, when you’ve got that belief flowing both ways it’s always going to be a good journey.”

Liverpool players have quickly adjusted to the subtle tactical differences that Slot has implemented in the squad. They respect their new head coach and the strong communication between Slot and his players is evident with their on-field dominance.
