‘Happy’ Liverpool star reveals Tottenham regret; keen to avoid repeat
Liverpool star Ryan Gravenberch believes that the team can do much better after their victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The Reds beat the Spurs 3-6 in the away game in which they conceded two goals after going 5-1 up.
Liverpool have struggled with similar complacency during the last season, costing them major titles at the end of the season. The new head coach Arne Slot has emphasised the need to avoid such complacency this season to fulfil their ambitions.
The Reds are currently at the top of the Premier League table with a four-point gap between them and Chelsea. Furthermore, Liverpool have a game in hand after the postponement of the Everton game due to bad weather in December.

Gravenberch told Liverpoolfc.com that Liverpool did well but could do better despite the convincing victory over Tottenham. He said:
“At the end, I think we did really well. I think we controlled the game but [in] the last minutes we conceded the goals and we shouldn’t have let that happen. I think we can do better but we played a really good game and scored six. Happy with that.”
The Dutch international has enjoyed an incredible season, rejuvenating his career under Slot after a change in position. Gravenberch has established himself as the first-choice defensive midfielder and is pivotal for the Reds, influencing both defensive and offensive phases.
The 22-year-old enjoyed 61 touches and 91% passing accuracy from 47 passes, creating one big chance for the Reds. Gravenberch enjoyed one successful dribble with 67% long-ball passing accuracy while also winning 67% of his tackles.

He also made two interceptions, and four recoveries and won seven duels for his team against a well-renowned attacking side. The Dutchman was also fouled three times while enjoying seven defensive actions during his all-round under-the-radar performance.
Liverpool needs to heed Gravenberch’s words and remove complacency from their game irrespective of the comfortable scoreline they had. Any poor phase could shift the momentum of the whole season as a butterfly effect as it did last season.
