Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League and the Champions League table along with the progression of the Carabao Cup. Their current predicament has inevitably invited title talks at this early stage while fans and players remember the last season.

Liverpool enjoyed the same momentum last season under the legendary manager Jurgen Klopp but failed to secure major trophies eventually. Complacency and injury crisis played a critical role in their downfall along with extraneous factors like scheduling and poor officiating.

Furthermore, the Reds lacked defensive formidability and balance last season which they have displayed this season under the new coach. Nevertheless, complacency remains their biggest adversary as the team heads into the new year with everything to achieve and lose.

Speaking to Amazon Prime (via Liverpoolfc.com), Gakpo revealed that the team has stayed humble, taking one game at a time. He said:

“We only think about the next game. We cannot deny we are in a good place I know, but still, I think one of the strengths of our team, and also of the staff, is that we approach each game as a new one as if we didn’t play anyone before. That keeps us humble and working very hard.”
