Mohamed Salah told what needs to be done to become part of iconic Liverpool trinity
Jamie Carragher believes Mohamed Salah will become one of the “top three” greatest Liverpool players by winning the Premier League. The Liverpool legend believes that the Egypt captain is already among the top five greatest Liverpool players of all time.
The Reds fans collectively agree that Sir Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard are the two greatest players of all time. If Salah continues his current form and helps Liverpool win the Premier League, he will reach their legacy this season.
The fans have argued about the greatest ever player for Liverpool which never reached a final verdict due to the impact of Dalglish and Gerrard in their respective eras. Salah has made a similar impact in this era, helping Liverpool win every major trophy under Jurgen Klopp.
The 32-year-old could help Liverpool reclaim their spot as the club with the most Premier League titles alongside Manchester United. The Reds’ arch-rivals have 20 Premier League titles compared to their 19 titles in the Premier League history.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football (via YouTube), Carragher highlighted the legacy of Salah at Liverpool so far. He said:
“A few weeks ago I said he is in the top five players to ever play for Liverpool. I think if he takes Liverpool to a title and ends up with the Premier League, PFA [Player of the Year Award], which if he wins it, will be the third time he has won it, which has never happened before. No one has ever done that before,”
Carragher outlined that Salah could reach the legacy of Dalglish and Gerrard by helping Liverpool win the title. He added:
“If he does that, he’s not in the top five, it’s basically a fight between him, Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard to see who is Liverpool’s greatest-ever player.”
Carragher’s points are valid and will receive general approval from the Kopites as winning the Premier League is crucial. There are other players within the Liverpool squad like Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk who have a great legacy.

Even those players will have a significant claim if Liverpool secures their 20th Premier League title this season. However, the journey to that outcome is still long and the Reds need to maintain their focus, avoiding any complacency.

Salah struggled with performances during the latter stages of last season which was an uncharacteristic period for the legendary forward. The 32-year-old must avoid repeating that turmoil this season, which will leave a legacy that no one can argue about.
